Institutional Public Policy Press publishes work on the economics of state capacity: how public institutions are built, what they cost to maintain, what happens when they are allowed to decay, and how any of it might be measured.
The press exists because work of this kind falls between the established outlets. It is usually too formal for the policy literature and too institutional for the economics journals, and it reaches the ministries and multilateral organisations that are its readers only after a delay long enough to make it useless to them.
Every title is read by an independent panel before it is published, and what the panel required is recorded alongside the book. The press publishes in English, French and Italian.
Currently published
Institutional Capital Theory by Talla Kebe, also published in French and Italian. Two countries can spend the same money strengthening their governments and score about the same on the usual governance indexes; ten years later one has a public apparatus that works and the other does not. The book names what accumulated in the interval.
